Art Brussel Profile III: Artist Peter Halley’s Metallic Paintings
The debut of Peter Halley’s new all-metallic paintings proved quite popular among collectors and gallerists all week. Known as an extraordinary colorist and for consistently challenging the critical relationship and idealization of geometric abstraction, Halley introduced these pearlescent paintings simultaneously at Art Brussels and at a solo show with Jablonka Maruani Mercier Gallery in Knokke, Belgium.
What is clear when viewing the new works is Halley’s ability to maintain an interesting complexity between the rich, spectacular color scheme and the intelligently planned out structure in a deceptively simple way. Halley’s compositional style is unmistakable, but his use of the metallic, along with the familiar, unmasked “stucco” texture produced a warm, sensual and unconventional radiance. The experience is instantly enjoyable and gives a strong nod to the energy found in the permanent and valuable, whether real or virtual.
ArtAndOnly is proud to have an exclusive and extraordinary work by Peter Halley available right now and be sure to visit his Artist’s page for more information.
