This painting is featured in an interview with Armen Agop, published in the book :
Rosen, Aaron, "Spiritual Traces: Reflections and Conversations on Contemporary Art", Cascade Books, An Imprint of Wipf and Stock Publishers, 2025, p. 87
This painting is from the MANTRA series where Armen Agop originates a gestural mantra. Instead of the transcendental vocal ritual Agop practices a physical one by using the smallest pen nib (0.1) and repeating the same gesture endlessly. The accumulation of marks over time invokes luminocity from darkness. The paintings become a materialization of time through the rituality of the gestural mantra. Agop's works are meditative recordings of time and consciousness—echoes of a spiritual process rather than representations of form. Blurring the line between art-making and meditation, he offers us not just an artwork, but an invitation to pause and contemplate.
